How to Reset Porsche Panamera Service Reminders + coding

You have to get a diagnostic code scanner. It provides access to the many Porsche control units for maintenance and troubleshooting information. The tool helps you read Porsche Panamera diagnostic codes with user-friendly descriptions, part numbers, and over-rev data; can activate drive links and capture actual values; resets the service reminder on cars that support them and can clear the warning indicators of most systems.

The diagnostic tool is easy to use. Simply load the software on your Windows computer and connect the cable between the computer and car. Start the program, select your model, and the program will begin communicating with the car.

There are a few kits out there.

iCarSoft:

AUTEL:

There are two main differences between the Enthusiast and Professional Kits:

These features are included with the Professional kits only:

–  Support an unlimited number of cars.

–  The Coding and Command Console features.  The Coding feature provides for the ability to enable or disable predefined features in the car such as airbags, daytime running lights, cruise control, and the rear spoiler where applicable. The Command Console feature is a means of communicating with the control units using very low-level communications. This feature is very seldom used.

The Enthusiast kits:

–  Support only up to three cars only.

–  No Coding Feature.

What else does this tool do?  Well you can compare it to the OBDII scanner and reset tool. This tool does a lot more things than typical OBDII scanner. It

  • Reads P-Codes as well as manufacturer specific codes
  • Repair information for each code
  • Works with other systems in the car
    • DME
    • Airbag
    • ABS
    • Alarm
    • Heating / AC
    • Seat Memory
  • Access to community based repair information
  • USB hardware compatible with most computers

Best Porsche Panamera rear spoilers and wings

I always see people with regular (non PTT) Panameras looking to improve the look of their ride. They usually start with the cheapest accessory which is a rear spoiler. So I decided to write an article to help everyone get some scoop on the topic and find all options in one place.

Hofele Rivage Wing

Made for 4, S and 4S models. To me this is the most sexy looking wing. But you be the judge. Doesnt interfere with OEM wing. Its mounted around the OEM “S” and “4S” Wing. Once it retract – all becomes one big surface. Its molded around the OEM wing.

DIY – Get rid of your musty/moldy AC smell – Evaporator system cleaner

Usually, you will get the moldy smell after a winter. What happens is all the leafs and dirt get into your fresh air intake and into the evaporator AC drain pipe or Sunroof drain pipe and claugh it up. So the water from the rain doesnt have a place to escape and it goes down to your evaporator box and just sits there. Then everytime you turn the AC/heat on – you smell it.

I have seen a few complaint on this forum about their musty/moldy smell coming out of the air vents. So I figure I share some resources about this issue. Every car on the market has the same problem. Not only porsche. But there is solution.

1 – First, change your interior filter. I wrote a post about that: Air Cabin Filter replacement DIY

2 – Clean your Evaporator drain pipes and sunroof drain pipes (I have not done that myself yet so you have to check the dealer to do that for you). Usually its hidden inside of the right fender well with a rubber flap or in a star shape (at leats on AUDIs and Lincolns). It may be just a rubber hose. Pull the fender whel and look around. I will try to find some pics or do a DIY someday.

3 – Cheapest way to get the smell out would be to spray some Lysol sanitizer into the air intake (in the engine bay) couple of times for couple of days. I have heard of that solution couple of times.

4 – If that doesnt help – you have to go and get a product called Frigi-clean and Frigi-fresh
http://www.bgprod.com/catalog/climat…/#bg-product-1
http://www.bgprod.com/catalog/climat…/#bg-product-4

a) Frigi FRESH (no drilling):

Raise the hood, start the car, open the driver side window and turn on the A/C. Verify rear passenger vent is open. Select Fresh Air, Max Cool (lowest temp) and Mode to Center Vent. Once air from center vent is cold to touch, spray Frigi-Fresh on the A/C air intake (below windshield) until you can smell it coming out of the center vent. Then change mode to Foot Warmer, spray Frigi-Fresh, change mode to Windshield Defroster and spray Frigi-Fresh. Do a similar process in Max Heat (highest temp). Repeat process as needed. I spray less Frigi-Fresh while in Max Heat.
or
When you spray into the intake duct below the windshield you are just spraying to the top of the cabin filter, it may be more effective if either you a. removed the filter. or b. remove the filter and spray from that spot where you remove the filter behind the glove box.

b)

Before you go in there and start drilling holes – check this video out

Frigi CLEAN (drilling):

his is a video on some import. It has a pretty long tube.
